Raising the Next-Generation of Outstanding Korean Studies Scholars.
Welcome to the website of the Graduate School of Korean Studies.

- The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) was established in 1978 as the central institution for Korean studies research and education, with the mission of “Promoting Korean studies and developing national culture.”
- The Graduate School of Korean Studies opened in March 1980 and has been educating elite Korean studies scholars for more than 40 years. These scholars have been critical in achieving the mission of AKS, that is, advancing and expanding Korean studies. Today, the world is highly interested in all aspects of Korea, such its economy, politics, society, and culture, creating favorable conditions for the development and dissemination of Korean studies.
- Thus, the Graduate School of Korean Studies strives to combine the capacities and wisdom of all its members and raise the next-generation of outstanding Korean studies scholars, who will not only contribute to the advancement of global Korean studies but also the general prosperity of humanity.
