    Korean Linguistics
    Korean Linguistics studies the structure and characteristics of the Korean language, establishes the status of the Korean language as one of the world languages, and further deepens the understanding of the Korean language which is the basis of Korean culture.

    Educational Goals

    • The Korean Linguistics major aims to establish the status and value of Korean language by understanding and studying the structure and characteristics of Korean. It also aims to further deepen the understanding of Korean, which is the foundation of Korean culture. To this end, it strives to foster in-depth and scientific research competencies on principles that validate the principles of general linguistics, as well as analyzing the structure and characteristics of Korean language. It also creatively reinterprets the traditions of Korean culture and to emphasize the status of Korean language and culture.

    Educational Focus

    • The Korean Linguistics major aims to focus on systematically describing and explaining the structure and characteristics of the Korean language in relation to its phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics.
    • The purpose of this major is to understand the concept and system of terms used in Korean linguistics accurately and enhance the systematic understanding of materials and theories used in each field of Korean Linguistics.
    • The purpose of this major is to train the skills needed to critically analyze, as well as deeply understand the previous research in each field of Korean Linguistics; to promote a systematic understanding of the changes of the Korean language; to analyze and interpret the language change that occurred in the Korean language through reading primary sources.
