Educational Goals
- Korean Classics & Global Communication is designed to promote Korean heritage through the translation of Korean classics and documents. Students read Korean classics through in-depth analysis, interpret them from contemporary perspective, and translate them into modern languages that communicates with the world. After finishing the graduate program, students are expected to become scholars and professional translators in the field of Korean studies.
Educational Focus
- In order to raise experts in Korean classics, the program is operated by professors from various majors, including history, philosophy, religion, literature, linguistics, philology, music, and folklore studies.
- Class materials include but are not limited to literary texts, philosophical treatises, and historical documents of rituals, military, and diplomatic matters, for example, archived in Jangseogak.
- Students learn theoretical and practical issues concerning the translation of Korean classics.
- Students explore the in-depth knowledge of Korean culture and its universal value in the global context.
- Students learn the management of academic knowledge and information on Korean classics.
