Welcome to the Graduate School of Korean Studies with the world

    • Unfortunately, you cannot apply. Most of the classes at the Graduate School of Korean Studies are conducted in Korean, and the thesis must also be written in Korean, so you must be at TOPIK level 4 or higher to apply. However, only for the Master’s program in Korean Cultural Studies, if one or more of the following conditions are met, you can apply regardless of your Korean proficiency. (1) An applicant with an official English language proficiency score of TOEFL iBT 80 (MyBest Scores submission possible, TOEFL ITP scores are not accepted), IELTS Academic Module 6.5, TEPS 301 or higher obtained within 2 years from the application deadline (2) An applicant who has the nationality of a country where English is the mother tongue or official language (3) An applicant who has obtained a degree from a university (graduate school) where all courses are conducted in English

    • Yes, you can apply. Since TOPIK is cancelled due to COVID-19, the Graduate School of Korean Studies temporarily conducts a Korean phone interview to evaluate the Korean proficiency of those who have not submitted the TOPIK results.

    • Regardless of the university from which they graduated, applicants must either submit valid TOPIK results or pass a Korean phone interview (excluding applicants in the Master’s program for Korean Cultural Studies).

    • Yes, that’s true. Students majoring in Korean Cultural Studies must obtain TOPIK level 4 before graduation, and those majoring in other majors must obtain TOPIK level 6 before graduation.
